Issue with energy rebate

We sold our house back in December and then moved into rented accommodation and then when the house purchase fell through we moved in with our son until the new purchase went through which was in the second week of April this year. The council are refusing to pay the rebate because we weren't in the house on the 1st April. Is there any way of appealing this decision.

afraid not, you needed to be the council tax payer for the property you lived at on 1st April. It's a pretty solid line in the sand....0

Also as the date of 1 April 2022 was decided by the government, councils have no option to vary the date.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
