It won't happen unfortunately.

We sold to rent in January this year, it wasn't so much tactical, we were kinda mithered to death to exchange then got gazumped after we'd exchanged.
So we moved in to this rented house where i am now.
I've been watching this forum very closely all year and for a minute there i thought prices may tumble. I feel now this won't happen and have decided to buy a house. Got it for £17,000 less than asking price which i suppose is a result, 3 bed semi in a good area.
Good luck to the rest of the peeps on here who need prices to crash so they can buy a home of their own.
A Jilted generation.

Needs a bit of work to be honest.
  • Congratulations. I do wonder whether now is the best time to buy. Even though prices may be lower in the short-term, the complete lack of buyers currently makes it a good time to get the house you really want if you can afford it.

With unemployment still falling it looks unlikely for that crash I've been predicting every year for five years. I think there is a mood change though, with people finally unwilling to stretch themselves that little bit further for some new build rabbit hutch, or inner city slum. 2008 will probably be slow but steady. Given up predicting prices.

I have several issues with the unemployment figures, the fact that they seem to have excluded half the people who dont have jobs from them for a start.

About five years ago my wife's cousin bought a house for 210 grand less than the asking price, when things were going up. Mind you, it was 2 million.

    Everything's relative.
