By the way, why do we blank out shops here?Hi,you don't need to, Amazon, Tesco, Morrisons all work, on the DIY forum some folk type stopc**k, when stopcock is meant.2 -
Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to reply, your responses have all been really helpful, and it seems sensible to make an investment in one. Looking at what we pay per kw, they seem to average about 3p an hour to run, which is incredible. I've also been looking at the warranties and most seem to come with a years warranty, so I might hold off ordering until September to make the most of that.
Thanks again 🙂0 -

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.3 -
I thought it was so we didn’t give them free market research - they use programs which crawl the web looking for discussions like this and price according to how much demand they identifyIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!2

Most DIY problems can be solved by a combination of spanner, pliers, screwdriver, Allan key and a blade. (Hold it, twist it, cut it!) Very occasionally industrial language, a hammer and an adhesive may need to be added to the mix. (Curse it, hit it, patch it!)3 -
To be honest I'd buy it now if you can, before the colder weather approaches and everyone else thinks of buying one.

Thank you both, I hadn't thought of it that way and it actually prompted me to look into the extended warranty and accidental damage cover offered. I have ordered one with an extended warranty for 3 years, and only cost a few extra pounds. I looked into the terms and it seemed to cover every eventuality I could foresee, so I'm happy with that. Thanks everyone for your help and advice 🙂0 -
I read this thread with interest as I have a heated throw and consider it one of the best purchases I've ever made so I'm glad you've found one you're happy with.
On a related note I thought you might be interested to hear about my experiences with thermal clothing.
I've bought various bits from M*rks, Pr*m*rk and Un*ql* over the last few years and have found that Pr*m*rk men's socks to be very good but their thermal clothes not worth buying.
Un*ql* thermal layers, especially their leggings, are very much worth the money and can sometimes be found on the rails in charity shops. They have oddly timed online sales too so the website is worth keeping an eye on.
M*rks thermal clothes are almost as good as Un*ql* but cost a few pounds more new but might be worth buying secondhand.
If your hands really suffer in the cold I find this sort of glove well worth wearing indoors and under your outdoor ones too as the increased warmth keeps your hands much more supple.
Hope this is helpful for you and others too.5
