Stuck on SVR due to house buying chain

Hello

I own a flat which is being sold (under offer) and have had an offer accepted on a house.

The mortgage on my flat is with Halifax but the fixed rate has expired. I am now on the SVR, so paying hundreds more per month than if I had a fixed deal.  I have a mortgage offer in place for the new house, also with Halifax.

Unfortunately, the house purchase is taking a long time, as the seller still has not found somewhere to live, so this could go on for many months.

I have spoken to Halifax - got passed around between various people, one of whom thought they might be able to help, but I ultimately got told no, there is nothing they can do.

Has anybody encountered a similar problem or have any ideas for what I can do to help the situation?

Thanks in advance

you could see if the halifax can put you on a fixed deal that is portable - but the charges to port may outweigh any benefit you might get with a lower rate.
