Help,Creditspring Scam?
Hello, advice needed please:
I recently received numerous text messages from a company called CreditSpring claiming I was behind on my "membership" payments to them and they would report this to Equifax and Experian. I checked my credit report and indeed this company are on my credit file and had taken payments from my bank account in April and Ma. I called my bank and immediately blocked any further payments being taken.
I have never heard of this company and never signed up to them for any loan membership. I searched online for a loan back in April but I didn't take any loan out at all. I've called them numerous times with no answer and emailed them regarding this. They replied to my email saying I should send them a copy of my Passport or Driver's Licence in order to further investigate this on their side. I will not be sending them a copy of my I.D as I believe this company stole my information when I had searched for a loan used used my information to set up a "membership" to them.
I asked them to send me tangible evidence of my so-called membership contract as I do not have correspondence from them regarding this membership.
There are numerous reviews from other people with the same problem on trustpilot but I don't know how to fight this and have this company removed from my credit report
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You would have to formally complain to the firm and start their complaints process before going to the FOS assuming they are covered. If you searched online for a loan particularly using a quoting/broker service e.g. for those with poor credit then chances are you have signed up for them via a link. Given they have your bank details you must have entered them on their site and agreed for them to charge otherwise how would they have them?1

Thank you @Deleted_User for your reply. I believe this is what happened but at no point did they state that you would be signing up to a monthly membership. They are a loan company themselves but I did not sign up for membership. I will make a formal complaint.0

Be careful though, if you signed up and agreed to pay this, simply cancelling the payments won't cancel any obligation you have to pay through that contract you signed0 -
Thank you again, but then if this information is not clearly stated on from them then surely that's not Informed Consent given for them to take a membership out. Also they did not send me any confirmation on me signing up and I cannot log into "my account" as I do not have any log in details for this company or a copy of contract with them.0
