Hi. We have a mortgage with Foundation Home Loans. We originally took out a portable self cert mortgage with gmac about 16 years ago since then it changed to paratus and now Foundation Home Loans. How do we stand in that the original terms of the mortgage ie portable now no longer applies? We as a couple have separated and I want my name removed from the mortgage and want to know if anyone has done this with Foundation but also we feel aggrieved that the mortgage terms that we agreed when taking out the mortgage no longer apply through no fault of ours. Any advice on how we stand with both change or terms and also removing one party from the mortgage would be greatly appreciated.

If it's no longer portable, then that is not an option. You'll need to remortgage.
Removing one party will mean the other applying for a sole mortgage and passing the necessary affordability tests.0 -
We took it out as a portable mortgage though. That was one of its selling points when we took it out. So if no longer portable surely we should have redress?0
