Tax overpaid

in Cutting tax
Last year Mrs Tempest starting getting her State Pension. She had already been getting some private pensions. She is convinced that she paid several hundred pounds more than she needed.
Her Personal Tax Account informs her that she does not need to fill in a tax return. It also states that her tax for 2021 / 22 has not yet been finalised.
Anyone know how long it will be before her tax is finalised?
Thank you

End of November apparently.
But does she actually have a genuine reason why she could be overpaid?

It should be relatively straightforward for her to calculate how much tax she should have paid, although without full details, it is difficult to be sure.
For tax year 21/22, she had a personal allowance of £12570 ( unless it was reduced or increased for some reason)
Any taxable income, including from pensions, that was above that figure would be taxed at 20%.
If you start taking a new taxable income during a tax year ( like the state pension) and you have multiple streams of income, it can take some time for correct tax codes to be sorted out and too much or too little tax may be taken.1 -
Yes, have taken total income minus Personal Allowance (including my 10%). Gives tax due on £4028 so £805. But actually paid £1180.
Personal tax account now says 2021/22 tax will be finalised between June and October.0 -
You cannot have a Personal Allowance greater than £12,570.
Marriage Allowance, as the recipient, entitles you to a fixed deduction off your tax liability (£252 in 2021:22).
Doesn't change things for most people but is does for some.0
