HALIFAX MORTGAGE - MORE PAYLSIPS/CREDIT CHECK ON COMPLETION

Hi,

I received my mortgage offer from Halifax on 25th May 2022, we are due to complete early August.

Has anyone had any experience with Halifax recently?

Will Halifax run a second credit check + ask for more payslips etc on completion?

Thanks

Not sure about Halifax in particular, but it's quite common for a final credit check to be performed just prior to completion.  This is why people are usually advised not to take out any new lines of credit between offer and completion.

@kurtisbaptiste1993 Can't say it never happens but I can't recall Halifax having asked for updated payslips pre-completion for my clients.

With respect to credit-checks, yes they can "re-score" the app post offer. Whether that relies on the original hard check or an updated soft check, I couldn't say for sure.

I'm pretty sure receipt of the certificate of title triggers another soft search.

They credit checked us before release of funds, they said they do it at every action taken on the account
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
