Hi all,
Not very pension savvy however getting there. To put it bluntly I have about 5 years worth of AFP which I am enquiring about transferring over into my LGPS pot (about 10 years worth) purely for ease of having it one place.
Is there anything major I should be considering or any potential significant losses?
Thanks!

Have you checked on whether this would be permitted?

You will generally have 12 months from joining the LGPS to opt to transfer your previous pension.0 -
I've queried it and waiting a response, I was told to submit the paperwork anyway just to open it up.xylophone said:I am enquiring about transferring over into my LGPS pot (about 10 years worth) purely for ease of having it one place.Have you checked on whether this would be permitted?

I have recently changed jobs but still within the LGPS so I wasn't sure whether that qualified as a new 12 month period as I effectively had to transfer all the benefits over from my previous job despite it being part of the same scheme.0 -
No, the 12 month clock started ticking when you first joined the LGPS.
Don't worry about not having everything in one scheme - just remember to claim your AFPS when the time comes, as they won't contact you.
