Power bank for MacBook Pro

Does anyone know of a portable power bank for a MacBook Pro which works?

It's the 2017 model with USB-C so needs a power bank with PD (Power Delivery).

The Juice power bank max 20000mAh technically should work but it doesn't.

Also where to buy from in NI as most retailers, including Amazon, will not post to NI/Ireland.

TIA

I'm not an apple user so I can't help on a specific power bank, but Curry's sell a range and will deliver, Argos sell fewer but might have what you need. Basically anywhere with a physical shop is a good bet.

What size MBP out of interest?

I ask because I have a 13" which requires a 65watt adapter I think, but I seem to recall the larger model required 95watt (or more?).  Unless the powerpack can output that (which at 12v would be 8amps output...) I suspect the macbook wouldn't accept it (or it might but only if turned off as a slow charge).

Those power ratings are maximums? For fast charging, for example. I think you'd need to look at the normal power consumption range for the Mac, rather than what it takes to stuff the battery in a couple of hours

I would expect a PD device to charge it (albeit potentially slowly depending on circumstance) - certainly my 2019 MBP charges off  lower power adapters, just slower.

I think in hindsight it depends what you're hoping from it.  A slower recharge option as an emergency?  Or a pack that can be used without the MBP losing too much battery during use (those intel based 2017 models do drink the juice when the turboboost kicks in).

The first Juice 20000mAh max power bank that I had did charge the Mac-and quite quickly-but that power bank developed a fault and was replaced with same model but the second one  doesn’t work for some unknown reason

That could be software, rather than power. Apple, especially, can be quite jealous of these things. Hell, even Samsung devices will only fast charge off adapters which talk to them in the right way

The original power bank worked though

But then they do a software update on the Mac...
