Tv license refund past years?

Options
Hi there,

Sadly a family member recently passed and we are in the process of sorting out their affairs.

When going through their finances we realised they have been paying TV license for about 4/5 years when they shouldn’t have been (over 75 so exempt).

TV licensing have refunded the remainder of this year but should they refund all amounts paid since 75 or is there a time limit on these things? If a refund should be paid does anyone know the process?

Thanks,
Ryan

There is no longer a blanket exemption for over 75s for TV licence. Only those over 75 who (or their partner) are in receipt of Pension Credit are exempt from paying for a licence.
