Ages ago I had a recipe for making up a batch of the dry ingredients mix for a choc pud in a mug. All you did was put a few tablespoons in a mug, I think with milk, and then microwave. Can find plenty recipes but not one like this. Anyone know what I am talking about?

As long as you find a recipes without egg you'll be fine. I can't abide egg in a microwave mug cake, and there is no need for it. Follow a basic mug cake recipe (which doesn't contain egg), add some cocoa, and a few broken pieces of cheap chocolate and your mug cake will be deliciousLive the good life where you have been planted.
