Discharged:)

Options
Hi I have been discharged from Bankruptcy, it's been a brilliant year been debt free! This is something I should have done years ago, but the stigma attached to been bankrupt was a always on my mind.

I have zero debt's all are gone and forgotten. My new debt free life starts now, all correspondence stopped, letters phone calls but;

Couple of quick questions. I've not checked my credit report since July last year after filling out my Bankruptcy form, I included all my debts.

However since checking I have 10 accounts still open and reporting defaults.

I thought maybe these would be closed or settled? I need to get these stopped.

One is Cabot Finance, PayPal, Advantage Finance, DJS and  6 from Lowell.

Also 2 active CCJs.

Sorry for the long post, how do I go about getting these sorted? Also how can I check the CCJs and get these sorted.

Am wrong in thinking I should have nothing open and reporting defaults on my credit report after bankruptcy?

Thank you :)

    Congratulations on your discharge.
They will still show and they should show as defaulted from the date of your bankruptcy so they will drop at 6 years from that date. There is a sticky explaining about cleaning your credit file.
The CCJ's will drop off 6 years from the date of the judgement you can ask the creditors to update them as satisfied (the account defaulted before being settled) however that is up to your creditors. The court would say that you haven't paid the CCJ's by going bankrupt so you will not be able to get a certificate of satisfaction.
You'll still have your bankruptcy on your credit file for 6 years and that will have a bigger impact than defaults or CCJ's.

That is perfect and thank you. The stickys are very valuable and have given them a full read.

I guess it's just now not taking any credit and just letting 6 years pass until everything drops off? I read I  may need to send letters but if they just drop off I will let nature do it's course :) no need to contact creditors and start dealing what that mess again.

they should all now be marked as satisfied or partially satisfied with zero owing. But this can take a few months after discharge so check again in the autumn?
  • The nearer to the six year anniversary the more creditors will be inclined to lend to you and after six years the slate is wiped clean

Hi thanks for the replys :) I have a lot still showing an outstanding balance but all are showing defaults each month. I guess these will eventually drop off. Thank you for the debt camel link I'll give that a good read.
