Delay Repay with Oyster card cap

I recently had a journey that was Zone 6 national rail plus underground and the total fee for the day hit the daily cap of £14.10.
My outbound journey shows up in my Oyster account as £8.90
My return shows as £5.20 because it hits the fare cap.
My return journey was delayed by more than 120 minutes (entirely caused by the National Rail component of the journey), so I should have been entitled to a refund of the full return fare.
However my delay repay was only given as £5.20. This can't be right, can it?
2 things:
1. This doesn't satisfy the rule of delay repay for delays of 120+ minutes which should be more than a single journey cost.
2. It feels unfair that the compensation for delays on the inbound journey is worth less than outbound because of the daily fare cap.

I believe journeys on Oyster are classed as single tickets (no matter how many you do in a day) so you are entitled to 100% of the delayed fare which was £5.20.The fact you also travelled earlier in the day is unfortunately not relevant here.1

I suppose if you had made more journeys that day you may have been entitled to a refund of 100% of nothing ...
