Moving to university, no convection oven...

Hey all, I'm moving into university accommodation (studio) and the only kitchen appliances they have are two electric hobs and a microwave. I cook most foods in an oven, so I was thinking what is an alternative to an oven? Would a slow cooker do the job? Or another electrical appliance? I like this accommodation, but if there is no alternative to an oven, then I'm going to look elsewhere. Thanks!

my kids had accommodation where they had a microwave and a hob - the microwaves however were combi microwaves so they were able to use them as conventional ovens

What do you like to cook in the oven as that will give some idea what would suit you for example airfryer or slow cooker

Something like an instant pot multi cooker with additional air fryer lid will cover most things and it's much cheaper to use

I'd suggest a Remoska, the Tria would be the most useful as it can be used like a conventional oven or a pressure cooker (the third thing it can be used for is in the oven which wouldn't work for the OP).  Not cheap but I use mine a lot and it's cheap to run at about 600w.

A Ninja dual a400 air fryer.
You can do anything you want in this.
    Bake, roast, airfryer,reheat, dehydrate.

I even made a dozen cheese scones in mine.

I have used my oven for 6 months,
    Easy to clean too,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I have no personal experience but a friend has a Ninja and says he hasn’t used the oven since.  He does the full range of cooking from stews, roasts and chips to cakes.

The answer to that will help people to advise you.
Also, is you budget limited? The cheapest thing would probably be a slow cooker.
And have you checked that the microwave is not a combi?

I have the smaller Ninja and have used the oven only once since purchasing it.

I cook everything in it.....best piece of kitchen equipment I have ever invested in and ideal for a single person!

I got a Ninja air fryer a few months back and the only thing I really use the oven for now is baking cakes or Yorkshire puddings. Cooking times are usually really reduced and it browns/crisps the food which most slow cookers wouldn't.
