New build solar panels

Options
Hi,

We have recently moved into a new build house. The house has solar panels built into the roof so it is all flush and i was wondering if i could ask a few questions for future help?

Theres a meter connected to the solar supply that shows how much has been generated however, is there a device i can connect or a way to work out how much we use and how much is exported?

There looks to be more room on the roof to possibly add additional panels. (Looking at getting an electric car soon) Is it cheaper just adding on more panels since we already have a system in place so they just need wired up or is there more to it? I am guessing flush fitted panels are more expensive than those that are on the rail looking type systems?

I have also been searching and seen a SEG scheme where we can be paid a small amount while exporting excess use back to the grid. How do i go about setting this up and do i need any documentation from the building/solar company?

Thank you for any advice given!

Adding more panels might not be straightforward, as the inverter will have various maximums that cannot be exceeded. If the inverter has capacity, then adding more flush panels won't necessarily cost any more than panels on rails - exactly the same panels are used, but they are fitted into a roof cassette rather than on rails. The cost of the cassettes is probably going to be about the same as the rails. Scaffolding is going to be a major expense.

I don't know much about metering, sorry.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

You sound like you've found the total generation meter, you'll be able to see what you've exported on your smart meter or should do.
You'll need some CT clamps on you incoming set up, speak to someone about that.
SEG, you should have had all the paperwork left with you from the previous owner or the builder if it's new that gives you the MCS certificate and confirmation of your connection from UKPN, then you can set up SEG payments with a supplier.
