Buying British food for someone in the US (Walkers crisps, Cadburys choc, etc)

Options
Hi there

I'm wanting to buy some typically British food products for a British expat in Georgia, USA. I am aware of a number of sites in the UK that cater for this market (British Corner Shop, Brit Superstore, etc.) However, they all seem to charge the earth for shipping. For instance, on one site I just entered some items into a shopping basket... they came to around £14... went to pay... and the total, with shipping, came to £47...!

Is there a better way of doing this? Is there perhaps a retailer already based in the US that stocks these products that I could buy from online? Or is there someone in the UK that is competitive when it comes to shipping?

Thanks...

  • HI :)

I often send "brit food" to the USA, i normally buy food/snacks when i see them on offer then i send the parcel at the postoffice. It cost ALOT less than ordering with brit superstore etc

  • Hi,

I also used to send my own food parcel up and send via royal mail thru the post office. The postage can be quite pricey but cheaper than that and it as that personal touch.

  • My OH has started sending parcels to USA with British food but uses a courier service and NOT Royal Mail. Will just go and ask him which one it is he uses.

EDIT: He said that he sends it through interparcel.com:

I have to say they have been really good and they've been sent with DHL Express through the interparcel website. He would recommend these anyway. Hope that helps.
