Hi All, I appreciate there's a few posts like this in a similar vein, however, would like to canvass opinion on the two quotes we have received.
Our situation and setup:
We live in a detached house in a relatively rural area of Southern Scotland. The roof slopes face East and West. Getting people out for quotes can sometimes prove problematic given our location.
We use around 5000kwh per year. (That is likely to increase in the coming months when the Scottish EV charging infastructure begins to charge drivers for electricity at chargepoints).
Quote 1:
14 x 410w panels
Solus Hybrid Inverter
6.5kw battery
bird proofing
£12,895
Quote 2:
13 x 390w panels (JA Solar)
Solis 3.6w inverter
Purestorage II 5kwh battery
bird proofing
£11,807
Both quotes strike me as expensive, although I appreciate the market presently.
Any thoughts are welcome. Likewise recommendations for South Lanarkshire (or thereabouts) based installers.
Many thanks in advance.
Mr M.

Not too far off the make although I'd expect a slightly bigger battery with those quotes (I always say that).
I have the JA panels and they're pretty decent, I can get 4.3kW out of my 4kW set in peak conditions.4.3kwp JA panels, Huawei 3.68kw Hybrid inverter, Huawei 10kw Lunar 2000 battery, Myenergi eddi, South facing array with a 15 degree roof pitch, winter shade.2 -
I've continued to struggle to get quotes and managed a further few remote quotes.
My final quote which seems to meet our requirements is below:14 x JAM60S20-390/MR 390 Watt Panels (JA Solar)1 x SPH3600 (coupled and built into Battery) (Growatt)1 x Growatt Hybrid Bundle 6.5KW DC Battery (Growatt)1 x Bird Proofing
£12,300
It's still more than I'd hoped. But for Southern Scotland in the current climate I think this is as good as it gets.

Doesn't sound too bad to me, growatt seem a popular choice by many, I like the DC coupled system, it's nice if you want to fit and forget.
With quotes being hard to obtain at the moment then the question of when they could fit it is even more important4.3kwp JA panels, Huawei 3.68kw Hybrid inverter, Huawei 10kw Lunar 2000 battery, Myenergi eddi, South facing array with a 15 degree roof pitch, winter shade.1 -

They can fit within 14 days of placing my order. The only thing that seems to hold things up a little is applying for the Scottish Government funding loan.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
14 days is surprisingly good in the current climate, the sooner you get it fitted the sooner you start saving.
One of the best decisions I've ever made.4.3kwp JA panels, Huawei 3.68kw Hybrid inverter, Huawei 10kw Lunar 2000 battery, Myenergi eddi, South facing array with a 15 degree roof pitch, winter shade.1
