3 wisdom teeth remain!

Hi just looking for anyone with experience. I am 35 years old a good few years ago I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed under local. It was horrific and lasted 45 minutes! I had a week off work after for the pain and my jaw hasnt been the same after crunching and clicking.

Now I have to have the remaining 3 removed yes they are all causing me pain one is in the bone and all are impacted.

My dentist advised this would again be under local i hate the dentist anyway and have anxiety whenever I go. Has anyone insisted on having them out under general? And how did it go?

Not in the UK but when I spent a year in Canada I had to have my wisdom teeth out so I got all 4 taken out while under general anaesthetic.
It was 20 years ago now but my memory is it was reasonably straight forward during and afterwards.

Is the dentist doing them, or have you been referred to hospital?

They are done under local whenever possible, but your anxiety and previous experience would mean that having it under GA should certainly be a discussion when you have your initial appointment at the hospital.

GA has its own risks & problems which will be discussed with you. A possible good compromise might be local anaesthetic with sedation.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I feel your pain! Really. Just had 4 molars removed under local. Used to go to hospital but told no more pre pandemic. By the time 2yrs had gone I had to trust my dentist as we have no other that isn't private now.

But should you follow up and ask about hospital again I can recommend the Twilight anthesetic. You are asleep but they can wake you up if they need to ask something. I heard the nurse saying to the young dentist 'you need to practise your stitching'

You can eat up to the anaesthetic, he said I could finish my hot chocolate while sitting on the couch! That relaxed me a lot.
After you lay down for a while and they bring you tea and biscuits. Now all that made a huge difference to the experience.

I've had a root cut off and a wisdom tooth done like this.
You aren't supposed to work or make decisions for 2 days after but I was able to take the dog for a walk and relax in the evening of the event.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
