Oyster Auto top up refusing Mastercard

When I tried to update my Oyster autotopup card, I was told I couldnt use Mastercard at the moment. This is inconvenient as I use oyster for business travel. I dont want to pay from another card. Both my debit cards are also Mastercard. What gives?

The oyster web system is super clunky and full of odd glitches. The only ways around I can think would be either try the TfL Oyster App to do top ups, it won't be automatic but at least it's easier than going to the machine, or directly use the Mastercard on the gates if it has Contactless (or use it via Apple Pay, Android Pay or Curve), assuming you don't have some sort of railcard discount, then for your business travel you can get statements on the TfL online account.I appreciate neither of these are the same thing but are probably the easiest alternatives.1

The easiest by far is to use the contactless bank card directly at the gates and not bother about Oyster.
You can still get a full statement of travel from the TfL website if you need it to claim business expenses.0
