WARNING Calls from National Debt Helpline and Citizens Advice UK

I’ve been getting a lot of calls from the above lately and some similar sounding names.
If you get a call from them please DO NOT TALK TO THEM. They are NOT affiliated to any of the debt helplines they are trying to impersonate. They are IVA factories that are trying to push you into an IVA which makes them a lot of money and may not be the right solution for you. National Debt Helpline, StepChange, CAB and Payplan will NOT call out of the blue trying to ‘help’ you.
IVAs were designed for people who have £30k plus of debts and assets (eg: a house) to protect and even then it may not be the best solution.
Please if you are struggling with debts contact one of the debt charities and also start a thread on here with your SOA. Just please don’t get into a conversation with someone who rings you and says they will sort your debts out with the help of a government backed scheme.

There are a lot of companies with part of their name very similar to the debt charities.

Please find out who they are and report them to the FCA.1
