Nationwide mortgage rejection

We put in a nationwide mortgage application after a dip we have debts on cc etc and can pay these off we have been declined due to risk due to debt so have sent an appeal to say we can repay has anyone had this before and did they accept the appeal?

    @mitchelln I've never had the exact same situation before but if you pay off the debt and provide proof of the same along with the appeal, they might overturn the decision. Alternatively, provide proof of cash savings sufficient to pay off the debt.

  • Basically our mortgage advisor rung the underwriter and asked if we can appeal if we pay / proof we can pay the debts off . Just hoping they accept this. Is it likely or is there still likely it will be rejected again

    @mitchelln There's no useful answer that I can give unfortunately. Your broker would be best placed to estimate the chances of success as it depends on what the rest of the case looks like as well, not just this one matter if that makes sense.

    Worst case scenario, In case Nationwide refuse to overturn the decline, hopefully your broker will be able to place you with an alternate lender.
