LGPS disqualifying break query

Hello forum members
I understand that the LGPS regulations are that if you are not a member of public service pension scheme for 5 years or more this will result in a disqualifying break.
I opted out of the LGPS in late 2008 (2008/09) and re-joined (different employer) at the start of 2014 (before 1 April) (2013/14), so had a break of 5 years + several months (of no pensions scheme membership at all). This obviously exceeds the 5 years so was anticipating a disqualifying break, but my benefit projections show that my service has been aggregated and membership up to 2008 is using my current salary as final salary for calculating those benefits. I'm just wondering if this is correct? I can only see it being correct if the 5 years relates to 5 financial years (or pension input periods) and not calendar years (but I can't find anything that says that)? but I was only not in the scheme for four full financial years (2009/10, 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2012/13). I'm sure I was asked if I wanted to aggregate the memberships at the time of re-joining but the 5 year rule didn't really dawn on me at the time.
Thank you.

The concept of a disqualifying break was introduced as part of the CARE scheme regulations WEF 1 April 2014 (1 April 2015 in Scotland and NI), so not applicable in your case.Baz2476 said:Hello forum members
