Hello,

Now that we can't get the £6 a week like before as there are strict conditions.

You can claim
  • your job requires you to live far away from your office
  • your employer does not have an office
You can't claim
  • your employment contract lets you work from home some or all of the time
  • you work from home because of COVID-19
  • your employer has an office, but you cannot go there sometimes because it’s full

My employer has a office and is flexible with regards to working from home. I assume this means I can't claim.

For year 2021-22 , what weeks we had government guidance to be at home? I will then only claim for those weeks. Any help will be good.

If you are entitled to claim WFH for any part of 2021/22, you are entitled to claim for all of 2021/22.

You worked from home ONE day during the tax year 2021/22 - you could claim for the WHOLE year.

It might be just me, but those rules now (which I see the OP has taken from .gov.uk) seem tighter than the rules from before COVID.

if you are claiming the fixed allowance of £6 pw  then your claim is for the whole year- a concession by HMRC.

If you are claiming more than £6 pw  then you need to justify your expenses.
  • Of course, you can claim this. WFH should be mandatory nowadays. However, people still insist on working in an office. So unnecessary....
Anyway, you ask for your rights. They should give you those WFH days.

Why should the employer not pay the expenses?
