New job - 3% contribution vs 10% previously

    I have agreed a salary 10% higher than I'm currently on, which means more cash in my pocket monthly. the pension package is under review for I'm hoping they'll at least hit 5%.

    as I said in a post earlier up the thread - if you negotiate a pay increase (as you now have done) to cover the decrease in employer pension contribution, and then put at least some of that into a personal pension of your own (or use it to make additional payments into your employer scheme)  then your pension won't be any worse off than if your new employer had contributed 10% like your old one.
    The thing is whether you have the discipline to put at least some of that extra money into a pension rather than just treat it as more cash in you pocket and spend it.....
