Hi guys
when I provided all my financial affairs in my bankruptcy I included 2 accounts I held with NatWest which both had historical unauthorised overdrafts. (There’s no interest or fees being added) the accounts have remained dormant for a few years.

These accounts have remained open throughout. Shouldn’t these have been written off by the bankruptcy? Should I contact the bank to find out why these accounts are still showing as open? They were last updated on 24th May 2022 and show as ‘active’ on my credit file.
I can only assume the Bankruptcy doesn’t cover this debt?

Bankruptcy covers all your debts, the only exclusions are these -
- Social Fund Loans
- Court Fines
- Child Maintenance Arrears
- Student Loans
- TV Licence Arrears
- Debts incurred through fraud
- Mortgages (If you want to keep your property)
Just send a letter stating you were bankrupt, and on what date etc, enclose a copy of your bankruptcy order, ask them to update your credit file as per FCA guidelines.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
