Just an update. They sent a letter and asked me to ring them. I did and they asked me to confirm my National Insurance Number plus the last 4 digits of the account number and the sort code of the bank my pension is paid into. Did all of that and then they asked about my martial status. I told them I was married and then they said they wanted a certified copy of my marriage certificate.  I went and got that done today, luckily my accountant and I are corresponding due to him wanting me to confirm a few things so  I went in there rather than email or post what they had asked for.

Nobody I know has ever had this song and dance and they still won't say why this has all come about.

Would be interesting to know why they want that info.  Has any of it changed since starting your SP ?

No -  we have been married for decades so nothing has changed.

Edit to add I just did a quick Google and apparently lots of married women have been underpaid by the DWP and this has been discovered recently and they are blaming a computer glitch. I might be in for a windfall!
