The DMHEF is a standard form that you & your GP or other support worker completes - I think it's linked to in my earlier linksI have heard back from MBNA who also have agreed to write off the balance which was £1,300. However, Lloyds have wrote back to say they would not be agreeing to the request to write off. I am a bit confused by this as are they not the same company? Do you think if they have agreed to write off one of my accounts they should be agreeing to the other or would it just be up to their discretion? My Lloyds balance is quite a bit higher so perhaps this is why. Thanks for your advice!0 -
That is just a first response from Lloyds, you must expect some setbacks, once they realise you are in it for the long haul, there attitude towards this may change.
In the case of my brother, I had similar responses from Cabot at first, then, over time, as they kept asking for updates, and I kept telling them his situation was not going to change, they eventually relented, and wrote off the balance, you have to have more than a little patience at times.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Once he got ill, the issue needed dealing with, as there was no way for him to make any kind of payment to them, so I took over the handling of his affairs, and got every one of his creditors, seven in total I believe, to write off his debts to them.
Some did so after just one letter, others took longer, but eventually they all came to the same decision.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Morning.I’ve just had a letter from Lloyds to say they are also going to write off my balance 😭 I cannot believe it, I am in shock. I owed £10,500 to them. MBNA and Virgin also agreed so that is about £18000 that has been written off. All I did was be honest about my mental health and how badly things had impacted me. They have all been so understanding. Not sure what I’m expecting from posting this, but I just needed to tell someone!! Thanks for all the advice I really appreciate it!7

What a relief for you 🙂
have you got a plan in place for any other debts? Are you on track with a budget at the moment? Just trying to think ahead and make sure that things don’t get bad again. Money worries always back your mental health worse so addressing what you are able to will hopefully help how you feel as well.MFW 2021 #76 £5,145
