  • Hi all,

Not sure if you can help me, but I have been looking at the thread and couldn't quite find what I was looking for.

I have an iboost and set it to use the battery and then solar to heat my water in the morning. However, putting it on from 5:30-8, two showers taken between 6:30 and 8, and there is no hot water left at 10:30. Does that mean my hot water tank (need to check capacity) only stores two showers or that the iboost only heats it up once but then doesn't 'reheat' the water within the 2.5 hours (5.30-8).

If I have the same settings on the gas boiler to heat the water, actually only for an hour, I get enough hot water to last me for 3 showers and throughout the day.

Latter suggest it's not the size of the tank but the way the iboost heats the water.

Is there a setting I am missing? I thought potentially the amount you take from the battery, e.g. after taking that, does it stop? It should be set up like: battery, then solar, then grid. Or would the iboost not do that?

    Thanks for any help.

My guess is that the immersion heater only heats the top part of the tank - only a short element, but the gas heating coil is at the bottom of the tank and therefore heats all of the tank.
