QTS Catch 22 problem

Options
A friend is from a non EU French speaking country.  She is qualified as a teacher there and her qualifications have been validated by Naric to be the same as UK degree.
However she can't get a job teaching French without getting QTS but she can't get QTS without getting a job as all jobs we have seen want QTS.
This is obviously very frustrating - any ideas on how to solve this problem?

It is very sad because she is good at explaining French.

I'd suggest speaking to the various teaching unions to see if they have any suggestions, and joining the most helpful ...

Has she looked at academies and the private sector - QTS not obligatory there, although they may still ask for it. Has she searched for unqualified teacher jobs to get a foot in thd door?
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Yes but it is very hard to find unqualified teacher jobs and she hasn't found any in the private sector yet.
  • I would suggest getting in touch with the schools that have a likely looking vacancy and having a chat about the situation to see if its worth putting in an application.
Or just putting in an application along with an explanation in the covering letter.
I'm sure most of them would consider taking on an NQT who is still working towards QTS, so this seems like a similar situation.

Might also be worth talking to an agency for Supply teachers. If they would take her on for some supply work it can be a good way to network and start getting to know a few people. Never know where that might lead...
