Remortgage Query

Good afternoon, myself and my partner currently have a Natwest residential mortgage as well as a seperate BTL property with another mortgage provider. When our current deal on our residential mortgage comes to an end we wanted to borrow more to pay-off the balance on the BTL, thus making it mortgage free. The plan is then to use any income we make from the BTL for overpaying our residential mortgage and reudcing the balance/term as much as we can over time.

Has anyone ever had any experiences of this and can you borrow more against your home to pay off a BTL mortgage?

Thanks for any help, I am waiting for Natwest to get back to me but thought I'd ask on here as I've always gained good info from this forum.
