Teachers - pay progression, maternity leave and covid

Any teachers out there have any experience with pay progression having been on maternity leave? I’m on the UPR and prior to going on maternity leave I did 2 terms. I was due to go back when lockdown started and I worked from home then had another maternity leave. I went back during the summer term and at the end of this year will have completed 2 whole years (albeit with a 2 year gap in between). Can my employer say no to moving up to the next pay point?

Is there an automatic right to go up a pay point?  I don't think there is for teachers in which case no.
