LandC Nationwide Remortgage surplus query

Options
Hi, just after a bit of advice.  I have just remortgaged with Nationwide using London and Country.  My old provider was Skipton.  No complaints regarding L and C as the process with them has been seamless.  However I am querying the surplus thats just been paid to me after the solicitors (Alexander Grace) have dragged their feet to get to me. The completion date was the 1st June but solicitors kept saying they were still 'chasing the old lender for a redemption figure'.  So I phoned Skipton and got it easy.  The redemption figure was £147555.02.  Nationwide lent me £148694.00.  I know there might be interest etc but I dont know of any other costs due, as fees were added to the mortgage.  So the difference should be £1138.98.  That to me should be the surplus amount paid to me.  I then had to chase the solicitors for this surplus to be paid and kept being told 'its left our accounts.  Then eventually I see there is a payment of £500.00 going into my account on Monday.  This cant be right can it?  Seems strange that its a straight 500 quid.  Is there something else that would reduce that figure that I dont know about?  The old mortgage with Skipton was settled on 7th June.
