Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, dry underfoot but overcast - no rain forecast though. I have a wash load ready to peg out - I'll do that in a mo.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pie, chips, peas and gravy for the menfolk. I had fish and veg. Tonight menfolk will be be having egg, bacon, sausage, beans and mushrooms. I'll be having some salad leaves from the garden with a mushroom omelette.
Yesterday work was ok.
Today I have the normal "to do" list, so will get going with that.
Keep safe and well x

Morning
Another lovely morning here. Hope it stays like that.
Spent a lot of yesterday at mum’s home. Her social worker came too so there were lots of questions for mum. They really put them through it. Some questions I couldn’t answer. Is this an assessment or a GCSE! Anyway the result was that she needed full time care (no s%$t sherlock) so they can discharge her and leave me to pay. Cynical? Me? Course not!
Saying that at least I know now they will leave us to it and she did give me some good advice re the funding once the monies gone which won’t be long. Most importantly mum told her how happy she was and when asked if she wanted to go home she curled her nose up and said oh no….nobody cooks for me there! Good to see her priorities are correct. So I now need to put more focus on selling her house. Any tips would be gratefully received
Chilli wraps for dinner last night which was nice and easy after a long day.
Today I will start mission sell so I can feel a big list coming on.
Dinner will be mackerel fish cakes from the mackerel mountain I found at mums
Have a good day all

Morning folks - thanks for starting us off nmlc.Whoever said to me yesterday 'be brave' what right! My hair looks fabulous (even if I say so myself). I steeled myself for the long appointment but it was so worth it.
The hairdresser was so good at choosing the correct combination of two colours for the foils. The 'before' picture was of a dowdy old woman with not grey / not white hair, not even attractive salt and pepper, the 'after' picture shows a full head of what I'd describe as near as damnit to my old dark auburn colour with subtle streaks of gold and hints of grey. For the first time in ages I was truly stunned, it takes years off my face and my mood. The process was mostly boring for me, especially getting the foils on, and I listened to an audio book whilst cooking. After nearly 40 years of not having anything done to my hair this is a revelation. Happy Gers.
The drive down and back was lovely too, a lot of sea mist over Arran which hid it from view for most of the time though on the way home the sun was shining on it, bright blue sea with white horses rolling over it. Such a cheery sight, which matched my cheery mood.As there was a space outside the Chinese takeaway I treated myself to beef kung po, first time in ages and ages.
This morning I'm up and ready to leave for a day trip to Glasgow, I have an appointment in town at 11a.m. and will whizz straight back. The sky is trying to clear the clouds, there may be sun hiding there waiting to pop out and shine.I hope that everyone has a great day, hugs to our poorlies and Happy Friday to all.14 -
Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC.It's sunny here, I've just put a load in the WM so I hope it stays fine. I think the forecast is good. Yesterday it kept clouding over, but stayed warm.Dgs was here yesterday, and we paid our usual visits to the station to watch the trains, but in the afternoon he suddenly seemed to feel unwell. He'd had a cough but it got worse and he had a heavy cold. He fell asleep in the car in the late afternoon.Dd said he had a slight temperature last night, so I hope he's ok, or a bit better this morning.I'll just be doing the usual jobs today, and visiting a friend this evening.Hope everyone has a good day, take care folks12

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Pleased you are happy with your hair GERS. A beautiful start here and for once it's forecast to last all day, getting up to 21 deg later.
Friday Tidy day for me. Just a dust and vac all around as I did the kitchen and bathroom yesterday. I had a rubbish night so whether I succumb to a nana nap this afternoon, or sit out in the garden depends on when I start flagging!
I have treat myself to an air fryer which was delivered yesterday. I had a trial run with it at teatime making some hm potato wedges! They were a success! But I didn't feel confident enough to risk the chicken until I get used to the timings.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. NELS it's a difficult time for you but fortunately your DM sounds happy and settled in her new home. . Take care one and all and stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"12 -
Morning everyone and thanks for the start nmlc.
Lovely and sunny here and set to continue today. I am WFH but need to take DS2 to his Physics A level (paper 2 of 3) at lunchtime. Pollen levels are set to be very high today so will dose him up before he goes! We are getting a curry takeaway with friends tonight.
Hope DGS feels brighter soon Scarlet x
That's great news that you love your hair Gers. Glad it's lifted your mood too x
No words of advice Nelski I'm afraid as haven't reached that stage yet with DMum, sorry. I'm glad she's settled and is happy with the food though. Is your brother stepping up at all?
Hope the tree surgeon comes today Mehefin
Wishing everyone a good day

Morning all; bright and sunny here so far.
Yesterday we treated ourselves to a pub lunch after DH had been trying on wedding suits. It was suggested he ordered the trousers in a slimline fit, something he's not too sure about but they should arrive in the shop today so he can see if they are a better fit.
I'm off down to Dorset for a folk festival weekend so hope the weather stays dry. DH opted to stay home this time so I've booked myself an Air b'n'b within walking distance so I don't have to keep moving the car. Stopping off for lunch with a friend on the way down so no doubt will get caught up in Friday afternoon traffic.
Gers: I bet your hair looks super!
Nelski: had to sell my mother's house to pay for her care home, admittedly over 20 years ago. It was in Middlesex, so a popular area and it sold easily but hard work emotionally and physically to get it cleared and then I had to decide on the best long term place for the money. Fees were lower in those days; they seem astronomical in some places now.
Have a sunny day everyone and a good weekend.

Morning All
Gers really pleased you like your hair
Nels we had to sell DMIL house to fund her care
Usual advice us get 3 EA to value and check what their sales are like before making a decision
See what similar properties in the area are going for
TBH the market seems OK at the moment but just take things steady and look after yourself along the way
Right back to the grindstone catch up later

Morning all. Got my provisions yesterday, so will be baking later on this morning. I did make a start on the stone shifting. One barrowful and I was pooped. This may take a while...I was toying with the idea of ordeing a bulk bag of stones because I'm not sure I have enough of the other ones, but it's a minefield trying to find something that matches what I have and/or like for a decent price, no surprise really given that it was riddled out of aggregates. I'll get a smaller sieve and do some again to stretch it. Must do some Italian today too, I have neglected it for two weeks...Nels, no adivce beyond the obvious, give it a good clean, potentially or not [ speak to the EA about it when you pick one] remove big furniture. I think house prices are still strong for the moment. I totally emptied mine but that may not be possible for you. I used charities to come and fetch bulky furniture and paid someone to take a lot of the garage contents away. It was hard work , and my sister was helping, and it took us 4 months and the house wasn't that fulll of stuff. I would delegate as much as possible, get your brother to do something if you can. It'll be tiring and stressful so take breaks when you can. I'm sure there'sa thread here about clearing a house. I don't think you'll have a problem selling it. I picked my EA from FB after recommendations from locals. He really was good, [ Go Penhill Jones!] so you might find local recommendations better than sticking a pin in,,Gers, glad you like your hair. Scarlet, hope your dgd is better! Coxy, good luck to him! WL, enjoy your weekend, sounds lovely! Look after yourselves, everyone should do a bit of excercise today and pat themselves on the back...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11

Morning all
Bright and sunny here and set in for the day I think, I have a wash on the go and it can be hung out today, I will see if there is another load to go in as well.
House work to do this morning and then get the dogs out for a walk, I have my second meeting this afternoon with my potential client so hopefully that goes well and I can then hand my notice in next week.or very soon.
After the meeting I have an electroloysis appointment, there is still a few stubborn hairs left but very few now, she has also removed a few cherry angiomas I had two big ones on my chest which showed when I wear my swimming costume which have now gone, I have a big one on my leg which I might get her to do today, she is brilliant at all things skin and she will often prod and poke around at things and I say what are you doing now,and she says oh you had a such and such so Ive got rid of it, she is a wonder woman !
Dinner tonight will be spag bol so nice and quick, I think dd is off out tonight so it will just be OH and I here for dinner.
Gers I am so glad you like your hair xxx
Nels no advice im afraid, but I wish I was nearer to be able to help you xxx
Have good days all xx10 -
Morning :0Up to now a bit mixed weather wise but dry. Nothing much planned today, DH is still hampered by his injured knee and def can't help DS2 at work.He isn't good at sitting still but luckily has a new thick book on the go.He cheered up a bit yesterday morning when my DB2 called, he had dropped DN off for 1 of her A levels. We were comparing wedding/holiday notes, they fared a lot worse than us, both outward and home flights delayed over 24 hours and put up in hotels, although the hotel in Rhodes was good with a nice pool so made up for the loss of a day.Yesterday we picked up Dgs from school and took him to DS2's ready for his football training. I ended up fetching a basket of ironing home- don't know what he does to it, possibly puts too much in his washer dryer, but it's so much harder to iron than ours. In fact I ended up washing one linen type shirt again,it was easier to do that as the creases just wouldn't come out! I don't mind now and again as he works hard & is always dashing off somewhere, picking the children up etc.I had just opened the breaded chicken pieces for tea last night for menfolk when DH said he'd rather have a cheese toastie, DS1 had been working outside, came in to say a mate had called and brought him a bigmacc so he didn't need any either! So they are on the menu for tonight. I had some green veg with some gammon bits.My keto/low carb diet is still going well - I didn't put any thing on over the holiday and my jeans now feel too big- had to put a belt on yesterday. I might need to get some the next size downTA I love my airfryer, it's quite a big one, and I hardly use my oven at all now, it has a bake and roast function but tbh I think that just alters the temperature. I passed my smaller one on to DS2 when he moved into his own house.Gers your hair sounds fab- I keep umming and ahhing over doing something & my home colour done before the hols has lightened and looks dry now!Have a good day anyway if you can xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
