My job makes it hard for me to leave at my contracted shift time - what do I say to employers?

Why is logging out only a problem in the evening?
Logging out in the evening is an issue because at 6pm calls are back to back and the system's 5-second timer doesn't usually have a chance to run because calls are literally one after another the customer hung up and the call came in straight after no after call gap.
If a call finishes and I click on log out but the ring tone has already come through the system tells me "call in progress - action unavailable" so I either have to take the call or hang up and try to quickly press log out. Any hang-ups are instantly flagged to my Team Leader.
@diystarter7
There is literally no positives in my job , not even the fact that I work at home because I never get to spend time with family until annual leave which they've forced me to already take 7 days, I kept telling them I don't want to as I need it for building work in a few months but they said i had to take before end of June OR until Saturday & Sunday's.
I'm honestly stuck in an awful place and can't get myself out.
A bit earlier you would have guessed that I read your other threads re your job, this job and previous job etc.
I feel for you. You are a hard-working lady and dont want to do benefits, I get it.
Just becuse you are working from home does not mean they can abuse your goodwill.
Go to ACAS as I said and try to leave. However, don't forget the downside of another job EG travelling time/stress, costs of travelling and possibly lunch costs and ret home more stressed, worn out
I feel for you.0 -
So what happens if you just don't answer the call? Does that get flagged up too? I think in all honesty (and I get the working from home thing), I'd find this too much of an intrusion in my own home. It's bad enough being office based and not leaving on time. It's an exploitative system, if your contract says you finish at a set time you shouldn't be prevented from doing so. I know you don't want to but I'd be handing my notice in and perhaps apply for something you are more likely to get as a stop gap rather than the 70 odd applications for positions you didn't get. I'd even be prepared to apply for universal credit in the stop gap. Anything would be better than this for me.accidentalglixch said:

For benefit claimants, handing in ones notice and then not having a job would mean having made yourself unemployed. This could risk getting benefit payments.Maskface said:

It's all recorded - If I hang up it gets flagged, if I leave it ring then it just shows as a long silent call then I get asked "why didn't you answer / why is there a silent call"Maskface said:

I can't leave without getting another job and we can't afford for me to go onto UC, it doesn't cover my bills & stuff I need to buy for myself / pets etc sadly.

I don't envy you. It's not a job I'd be able to do. There has to be something better out there for you.1

Why not work in a factory or supermarket. You will be mixing with other people and can do part time and most factories do Mon to Friday then you warehouse jobs like ocado/tesco and the like 4 shifts on and 4 off.accidentalglixch said:

What do you want to change your shift times to? I imagine your employers would be delighted if you asked to change to something that finished at 9 - and while it is probably not the hours you want, at least they would not run over and would give you certainty. Maybe something to negotiate for some days that, other days whatever you actually wanted?
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.
