Just check your files via the free routes - Clearscore, Credit Karma and MSE Credit Club.1

@zerofax Is it the broker's internal ID check or the lender one?
The reasons for failing the automated ID check can be name discrepancies, dob errors and even the different ways in which a flat address is shown.
You can check your credit files for free on -
Experian - MSE Credit ClubEquifax - Clearscore
TransUnion - CreditKarmaAll three in one - CheckMyFile has a 30 day free trial, but do remember to cancel once you download your report.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Our broker advised we also try and fix the issue if its on the credit files.Sounds like I should just use CheckMyFile. So if I cancel I shouldn't be charged? Had a bad experience recently with a "free subscription" recently where they charged me full whack even though I cancelled!0 -

Are you sure the broker can't verify your ID themselves manually? My compliance allows me to get the clients face to face on a Zoom/video call and verify the ID, proof of address over video.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I guess I just think it makes sense to try and fix the credit reports (while I remember) to avoid future issues?0 -

As an example, one of my clients simply could not pass a DIP (failed due to 'credit-score') with any lender that uses Equifax.
Eventually that was pinned down to the format used by the Equifax system to report his address (it was a flat). Other than a notice of correction (not very useful with respect to automated credit-scoring done by mainstream lenders), there was no easy/quick fix so I placed him with a lender that only uses Experian and it all flew through.
I've rambled a bit but my point was that it's important to know what's in your files, at the very least the Experian and Equifax ones.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
