Tax demand after death and refund!!

It sounds like it could be that HMRC issued a refund based on the information provided by the pension(?) company and then they submitted revised details to HMRC which has meant that instead of £644.40 being due back only £357 was repayable.weezie7 said:Thanks for the reply. Tax was already paid for the 5 months of life (£357), refund was £644.40, now says I owe £287.40! There is something called a Charge Reference, and also under 'Explanation' it says that I did NOT receive the HMRC refund.
Also, the amounts of income differ and the tax paid differs.........
What is happening at HMRC??
As £644.40 had already been repaid but only £357 is actually overpaid there is £287.40 to be repaid to HMRC.
