In DMP - bank refusing to cancel direct debit to themselves!

Hi, I’m in a debt management plan with Payplan and I’m having all sorts of problems with Barclays for my business stuff. I have a current account overdraft, bounce back loan and a credit card with them.
Payplan have been paying them their monthly payment since March but initially they haven’t set up the plan because they kept sending back saying the account numbers were wrong and they didn’t recognize the accounts etc. (they weren’t). In the end, I rang and spoke to someone who said they’d get the DMP registered onto all of my accounts.
I’ve realised over the weekend, that the direct debits to the loan and credit card are still active, and they are still being paid from my current account. So on top of the £100 a month in fees they’re charging on my current account, they’re also taking about £170 in payments to their own products.

I had looked in the Barclays app to cancel all of the direct debits but none were showing on my app so didn’t do it (they still aren’t showing).
I went onto the live chat last night and they told me to try on the desktop version of online banking and the direct debits were showing, but every time I went through the cancel process they just stayed.
Ive been on the phone to Barclays customer services now for an hour and a half and been variously told they can’t cancel the direct debits, they won’t cancel them etc. no one seems to know what’s going on.
Not sure what to do, advice would be much appreciated.

Change bank accounts, it will be a lot less stressful in the long run.
This should have been a basic first step, and you can then include any debt on that account in your DMP.

what I was trying to say was that I must have confused things with my explanation. I don’t use the account, it’s one of the creditors for the DMP.The bank is still taking a direct debits out of the overdraft (and making the debt bigger) to pay the loan and credit card I have with them. The direct debits don’t seem to be possible to cancel.0 -
Sorry should add, the loan card and overdraft all in the DMP and payments going through since March.0

The account is in debt management, so you won`t have access to it, what they do or don`t do is there problem now, not yours, you can make a written complaint, but they need to sort out their systems.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. When I rang them with the results, they told me they wouldn’t accept the amount I’m able to pay and told me the only amount they would accept as a payment plan would be one which would clear the debt in 12 months. I told them that if I had the surplus funds to be able to manage that, I’d not be in a DMP in the first place!I can’t believe how awful they’re being. Think I’ve just got to leave them to it and wait for the defaults etc to roll in…0 -
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, if a creditor can`t or won`t accept your offer of payment, they just sell the debt to someone who will, your "leave them too it" strategy sound`s like a good one to me, eventually they will sell the debt on, and you will be notified in writing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
