dranzer01 said:Just to confirm.... If I don't eat anything in the morning (maybe 3/4 bananas and then I take a metabolism tablet and around 2/3pm i have a snack , go to the gym around 6pm, burn 500 calories and then eat 4/5 chicken thighs with broccoli) , no matter if i am burning 500 calories everyday on the treadmill, I NEED to be consuming less than 500 calories as I've just burnt 500 calories...?
So I am trying to think even if I consume a whole load of protein (lets say) and I cut out heavy or all carbs/sugars/saturates, wont that make me drop belly fat in no time also....?
If you are interested in losing weight and achieving a health body and "fit" figure, then the calories need to be healthy and balanced across the nutrient groups.
The examples you suggest seem rather extreme and unhealthy from what I know but I am not a nutritionist. Lack of energy pre-exercise is likely to leaving you feeling unwell / faint and risk of injury. A diet as low as 500 calories in a day is likely to leave you seriously ill as it is insufficient calories to even sustain essential organs in healthy condition - I very much suspect you would end up in hospital or mortuary.
I will not comment in further detail on your diet proposals as they seem dangerous to me. I strongly recommend that you start by accurately logging all calories consumed. Simply do that for a week and establish your baseline.dranzer01 said:500 burnt from treadmil or elliptical (may use one one day and the other another day)
If you prefer, the following article suggests <200 calories per hour on treadmill so for 500 calories you'd need 3 hours:

There are also on-line calculators available, such as this one:

Both @Sea_Shell and I have given you good information, but it may be worth you reading it through again as some very pertinent points seem to have been missed or not "heard" taking your responses into account.
Please do not do anything that is a drastic chance without taking proper advice and planning. The staff at the gym you go to should be able to give some initial comments as part of the membership-fee service not requiring additional expenditure on Personal Training. You can also use free / cheap resources such as standard scales, pencil and paper or on-line apps before investing in equipment.
What actually are your objectives?
How far are those objectives from current state?

5k in 35 minutes uses more energy if you weigh 100 kg than if you weigh 80 kg.3 -
OP, would you be happy to share your height and weight with us?
That 500 cals could be accurate, depending on your current weight, speed, distance....or it could be way out!
Also how much would you like to lose?
As above, are your goals purely weight loss, or body shape/tone or fitness...or a bit of all 3?How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -

As a 10st female, I've always used a "guide" of 100 calories per mile. That goes for walking or running (outdoors)
Heavier uses more, lighter less.
OP, do you run outside at all? It's so much nicer than a treadmill...so it's "easier" to go further as it isn't as boring IME.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
I am
6'3
around 113KG
Im looking to lose belly fat to be honest
From using the treadmill, it seems or should I say appears I am burning around 100 calories in around 6 mins - on the elliptical it is around 100 calories/4 mins
I do not run outside - I don't think I'm equipped for that just yet.

So just under 18 stone in old money.
Unfortunately, you can't dictate where on the body fat is lost from ☹️.How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)1 -
Do you have the treadmill on any incline? 1% incline replicates "outdoors" to compensate for the springyness of the treadmill.
What speed do usually set it at?

What age are you?
From your other threads elsewhere I have assumed you to be a male of a certain age whereby some accumulation of belly fat is to be expected and almost unavoidable. Even if you are in good shape.
From 113 kg , what are you aiming for?
Weight loss will be from the whole body.
As well as cardio exercise, do you do any resistance training?
Diet will need to be managed as well.dranzer01 said:

You'd need to be at a speed of around 9 kmh, so 5k in 35 minutes.0 -

33
I wouldn't say I have a target weight per se, but if that means overall I would have a flat stomach and by that happening my target weight would need to be, for example, 97-100kg, then I will say that will be the target.
Weight loss from the whole body... got you -
I do weights around three times a week
Im no expert here, Im only relaying the information I see on the screen when I am on the treadmill. From being on the treadmill for around two weeks now, I can see that around the 6 min mark, it shows around 100 calories. Is that the true number? I have no idea.... that is what it shows me.
