Car hire share code

Hi,
Went online to request a car hire share code for an upcoming rental and apparently as my driving license has one additional address line in it when compared to my ni direct account I can't.
Had to go through the steps to manually add in the additional address line to my ni direct account but this will now need verified so not sure how long this takes.
For those of you that have rented a car elsewhere in the uk were you asked for a share code at the time of rental?

I've rented twice in the last month (Liverpool airport->Avis and Manchester airport->Hertz) and they only asked for my driving licence (card only). Technically I think if you bring the paper part that negates the need to have a share code

Thanks for the reply.
Just an update - got an email to say ni direct verifying process complete and additional line on address added. Very quick.
Could then go on and request the driving license share code which I have done and recieved straight away.
Will be interesting to see if I am asked for it like you say but at least I have it now!
