Fresh fish no it's frozen !!!

Pretty much all of the fish on the Sainsbury's fish counter is (a) farmed (b) frozen. I don't like buying supposedly fresh fish that has been frozen, as I want to freeze it myself.
In the past, I have bought Arctic Royal frozen fish which are frozen at sea, from Iceland. Howeve,r only fish available from them at Iceland right now are bags of 4 Atlantic salmon for £10 and I can get better deals elsewhere. on wild Alaskan salmon for that price.

Well the local supermarkets all closed fish counters except one and must say I find there fish counter depleted - best is Waitrose and none near me....I am lucky that OH calls in there sometimes when in the next town and brings some lovely fish.
My problem is I am living in the past when our local fishmonger got up 3 times a week to go to the fish market and of course UK fishing still was thriving then....plus he was my Uncle. He used to laugh at the popularity of monkfish saying 30 years back you couldn't give it away
I will keep a look out for Artic Royal in Iceland0 -
If I want a decent bit of fish I go to the twice weekly stall at a local farm shop. There's a fish monger in the local village but not the best; the last place I'd go is a supermarket counter. Otherwise for mid-week simple meals I'll go for frozen.I keep meaning to try fishing for mackerel locally when they come inshore, and there's a fish that is superb when fresh. I've some oak sawdust from a local joiner so I'm going to keep my ear to the ground this year...1
