Barclays unfair (credit score from 900 to 160) - HELP!

Don't do that, it achieves nothing except blocking all automated decisions and no lender takes any notice of it.dranzer01 said:Write a notice of correction and put everything you said on to that so other companies can see it whilst you are waiting for this whole shambles to be fixed -
get a solicitor (paid one) and force these nonsense companies to take action -
To me, it sounds like you must have some sort of CCJ because if your credit file is blemish free and what you are saying you only have this recent missed payment as to why you cannot now get anything, doesn't really add up. But hey, could be wrong -

True as above, look at all the credit reference companies and you will be shocked what each one holds on you......2 -
Cheers for all the help and suggestions peeps
Really appreciate it!

As suggested above, check with all 3 reference agencies (if you haven't already).
May you find your sister soon Helli.

Seems Barclays tod you that from their point of view you could take a payment holiday and not incur penalties from their loan. You don't say that they made any comment on your credit score not being affected. It seems valid that your credit history has 3 missed payments recorded - that was a fact. This might influence other potential lenders in their assessment of you as a credit risk, if you've failed to make payments on one loan you might be more likely to miss payments on a future loan.loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0

A lot of people are repeating this point, but I don't fully agree. The bank has specifically stated that they did not need to make a payment for those 3 months - I'd assume the OP was mistaken and misinterpreted something (the agent would have to be incredibly stupid to say this, let alone 3 times...), but Barclays apparently fully accepts this. I'd be very interested to read the ombudsman report, but as it's presented, I'd say they have a valid argument that those are not missed payments and so shouldn't be recorded as such. Perhaps the report was more along the lines of the agent being unclear as opposed to specifically stating it, making it ultimately their responsibility still.redpete said:Seems Barclays tod you that from their point of view you could take a payment holiday and not incur penalties from their loan. But to echo what someone else has said, there's presumably more to the story if they're being denied all forms of credit. I had a default (student overdraft withdrawn without me realising) on my report yet was still being approved for mainstream credit cards.0 -
Barclays credit/loan systems are all to pot; I've been on the phone to them today asking why they've rejected my application for credit at an Apple Store and have had some guff about "factors taken into consideration" in response.I simply went elsewhere and got what I wanted on a slightly better deal, so they've lost the store my business.I'm trying to follow it up, as it's a bit frustrating and embarrassing and has been going on a while. When it happened 3 years ago, I similarly took my business elsewhere for the phone and bought a new BMW on the same day.I'm a (mortgage on track) homeowner, have never had a late payment/default/CCJ, earn what many would consider a good salary, and so-on, but there's something amiss with Barclays' systems.0
