What is this need the OP speaks of? I love chocolates but never enjoyed this product.
Topic - a hazelnut in every bite.

It's not the hazelnut I objected to, it was the tough white nougat I particularly disliked as a child.

I mis-read I thought you'd put you'd never heard of this product. The other day I spotted milky ways in a vending machine and thought how much i used to like them when they had a more whipped nougat filling, then they changed them to their current creamier/sweeter middles and I've not liked them since.

That site makes no sense, says 40 x 47g bars for 69p but when you add it to basket it comes to £5.odd. Weird.

I have to agree with this, and the Aldi / Lidl versions are equally yucky.

And they are like hens teeth to find.  Not had one in a few years.  But I use to find single bars in Sainsburys petrol stations of all places

They've launched a vegan Topic bar using the colours and branding, but looks nothing like a Topic bar.

Tesco’s and B and M bargains have them. Unfortunately the vending machines at my work have them too, they are far too tempting for my own good.

I've got the same problem with Grape Nuts cereal.  I managed to find a mention on one of their websites that there were issues(unspecified) but no suggestion as to when things would be resolved.  It's been at least 6 months now!!
They've been available at Waitrose throughout that time (although, unfortunately, the price has recently increased).
