  • I really hope you and your wife are feeling better soon, it can really drag on so I hope it doesn't for you guys. You've done really well to get to the end of the month with a positive balance and that's a good chunk to pay off the Paypal Credit.

I'm sure that on 1st July when you do your review you'll get a positive feeling about what you've achieved. :)

Well done on getting to the end of the month with money left. That's a fab milestone in itself.

It's an amazing feeling when you have wages left over isn't it? I experienced that last week and it totally blew my tiny mind that this is something that a lot of people experience, and that I definitely want more of it!

The upcoming sales revenue will definitely help you with the Pay Pal and if things do move at the speed of light before 12 July, then at you'll have your inheritance. But if it's not this side of the 2 week shut down, at least you'll be able to make a payment from your sales. It must feel so good to be in the £3k bracket, and with your sales, you'll be heading towards the £2k bracket fairly quickly, inheritance aside.

Wishing you and your wife a speedy recovery.  <3

Update on covid.  No change in the debt landscape.  Feeling much better today and as we hadn’t ate really last few days my wife asked if I wanted a McDonalds breakfast from Just Eat.  (I’m never not turning that down) and discovered that my sense of taste and smell is gone.  Really struggling with this as food is my ultimate pleasure.   Since eating that all I’ve had all day is a round of toast as I don’t see the joy in eating if I’m not able to taste :(

Glad you are both feeling a little better. While some people seem to lose their sense of smell long term - for others it comes back reasonably quickly - so don't over-worry at this point.

  • As a fellow foodie I am hugely sympathetic to your loss of tase! I hope it comes back quickly, totally agree there's no point in having easy food if you can't taste. But remember you need vitamins and minerals so take some supplements if you can!

So still testing positive today.  The guidance as for this morning for N.I states that we can end our isolation on day 6 if we test negative on day 5/6.  We done a test today (Day 5) and it was still showing as positive....My wife's came up straight away....Mine tricked me as I thought it was positive before the second line appeared after 20 minutes.   Feeling well today, just a little tired and breathless at times.....I've noticed I've not slept well on last few nights and I believe that can be a sign of long Covid. The most annoying symptom is my lack of taste/smell.....My brother left in a vegetable risotto for my wife and I and I could tell it looked nice, but I'd have been as well eating a cardboard box.....Really hope this doesn't linger on too long as I'll go insane!!!

Anyway - Onto the debt side of things.

As today is 1 July - I thought I'd update on my current debt outlook across as my accounts:

    Halifax   6737    6729  (Loan)
    Halifax - 4941    4850
    Virgin -  4191     4099
    PayPal - 4059    3928
    Virgin - 3748      3648
    Lloyds - 2947     2712
    MBNA - 2778     775

I'm a bit bummed not to be clearing the MBNA this month like I thought but my focus has to be on the PayPal as come end of August it accrues interest. (I hope my inheritance will be in by then and I can clear it but by focusing everything means if that money doesn't come in - I'm paying interest on a smaller amount.

I've also made a payment on the Loan today so the amount I owe on it is less than what's stated here.  My minimum payment has already been made on my Lloyds & MBNA.

I also paid in my money to the "joint account" to pay for the Car Tires from last week and I put £100 away for my trip to Manchester in September.  I'll not be able to book flights until next week as the game time may be moved for TV...But I'm looking at most likely at a minimum of 1 night stay and return flights.

Planning to dump a further £200-300 on the PayPal by the end of the month...And I have roughly around £585 already lined up in sales.

As for July I'm aiming to have 20 Non Spend Days (Today was #1)

It's my 4th wedding anniversary on 6 July and the wife and I had planned on going out for a meal and something (we're not big into gifts for anniversaries)....But I've already told the wife I don't really want to go out for a meal if still experiencing the loss of taste....Not really great to fork out big money in a restaurant for food that you have no idea what it tastes like.

Great progress made.  Hope Covid clears soon and you get your taste back.  Definitely not worth spending out for a meal you can't taste!

  • You're definitely right to focus your efforts in clearing what you can from the Paypal credit account.  I really hope your taste comes back soon and that you start testing negative x
