LGPS final salary pre 2008 when for the last 18 months I was working part time

I have had miscalculations of my LGPS pension. The last calculation had a discrepancy of -£1500 a year. I  have just had a new calculation and this has been rectified.
However they have now miscalculated the date I stopped contributing to the scheme.
For the last 18 months worked 0.5 of a role at the same grade.
Does that mean my final salary is lower due to my salary being lower?

I want to be clear before I notify them of the mistake.

I would be thankful if anyone who knows the scheme well can help.

Thank you

No. Pensions are based on whole time equivalent salary, but the service is adjusted. You'll effectively build up 6 months of service based on WTE salary for a year while you are working 0.5 of full time hours.

Is it definitely a final salary pension and not a CARE one?

If it's final salary then your pension is generally based on FTE salary (whatever the scheme specifies).  But your final 18 months would only accrue 0.75 years.

The LGPS switched from final salary to CARE in 2014.

Just out of interest if a role was at a lower grade for 18 months at 0.5 would the whole pension go down?

It depends on the reason for taking the lower paid role.  In some cases you may have been given 'best year' protections, but that's something you'll need to check with your LGPS.

Thanks @Silvertabby I am pretty sure that was not the case but will check paperwork before contacting them.
