Hello
I've just updated my signature. It looks like I will come in a little under budget as it's payday on Wednesday. I have done a bit of re-organising and taken the dog food out so I might be in a position to reduce the grocery budget if I feel the need to.
Tonight I am trying out a new pasta recipe with peas, parsley and yoghurt (because I happen to have them all). I will come back and share it if I think it's worth it.
Have a good dayJune 2022 GC £372.89/£400

I had a shopping delivery today which consisted of plenty of fruit, veg, cereal and useful tins (I don't know about you but I've been finding it difficult to get tins of sardines in tomato sauce recently and it's a big favourite on toast for my son).
In preparation for the new food arriving I did a fridge clear out cook-up and made a load of cheese sauce, veggie chilli and a carrot and coconut dhal. The dhal, which I totally made up just to use the many bendy carrots in the fridge is the most delicious thing ever! I'll probably never be able to recreate it as it was very much a spur of the moment, chuck what's available in the pan kind of thing but I will certainly try.
I spent £45.59 which brings me to £198.63/£200 so I'm calling that the end of the month as I've no need to get anything else now before the weekend.5 -
Last spend of June to declare with a top-up shop at Morries of £21.44. Just the usual fresh fruit, veg, bread and ham etc. Did get Scottish Blend tea on a deal so I popped an extra in and treated OH to a pizza too, which has taken me over budget for the month! Noticed that they were selling medium and large cucumbers at different prices, Medium looked small to me and cost 55p
Between that an the outrageously priced iceberg lettuce at 59p, I think the time has come to abandon Morries for a German supermarket...
I'd have been under budget if I'd shopped elsewhere and looked at prices online first before I go. The milk delivery is also costing too much and sadly that's going to have to go. On a positive note I did manage to stock up on a few things like the frozen fish, teabags and baking ingredients. We've also eaten well, though more time and consideration has been needed to plan, prep and cook. Oh, and the washing up, boy there's been a lot more of that - OH isn't enjoying that one bit
Total spent for June - £278.79
GC budget - £275.00
Overspend of £3.79
@elsiepac Many thanks for this thread, its greatly appreciated. And many thanks to everyone who is participating in the GC. It's really helped me to read here and join in. You are an inspiring and entertaining bunch - I've learnt a lot
Here's to July and lowering the budget to £250.00.
Have a lovely week everyone.9 -
99.70/100 - had full stocks for this challenge else it couldn't have happened. It proves to me how much of a food hoarder I am

I've got one more shop to do this month and I'm really going to try very, very hard to stay under budget so I can report that here.OH went to Lidlees last week with a list and firm instructions not to deviate from the list and he didn't. He did, however, mention that there were loads of really good boxes of fruit and veg on the way in but as they weren't on the list he didn't buy any 🤦♀️. That must be the first time ever that the £1.50 boxes have been there at the same time as us and a double first with OH sticking to the list!6

I did a fruit and veg top up shop at M*rks this morning and bought ys bread, 2x tinned chickpeas, red peppers, potatoes, limes, 2 x pineapples, frozen petits pois, 2x avocados, carrots and eggs for £10.25 which makes my new monthly total £62.65/£120 and my average daily spend £2.32.4 -
Hello all,
We are managing this month but its going to be tight. Had 1 takeaway at the start of the month when I got back from London and none more since hurrah. I've been using Olio and found it very helpful. I look at places to collect on my home from work or if I'm going to another part of town I will see what is there.
Husband agreed about the energy drinks so I'm ok with just the pepsi max for now. Will need to cut it down a bit soon.

Good Morning!
I forgot to add yesterday that I had made a batch of hummus, using the YS'd tahini with honey from MrL's Greek foods section. Mmmmmm, well, it's different. It's not awful, and it's certainly edible, it's just that the honey is actually quite strongly flavoured (stronger than I thought it would be), so whilst not overpowering, you certainly know there is a sweet note - possibly exacerbated by me not having a particularly sweet tooth. I'm glad I tried it, I will certainly use up the jar, and I think that it is possibly better suited to dressings - although I will certainly make more hummus, as we like it and it is a treat for us to have it. I wouldn't buy this product at full price for hummus though - dressings, yes maybe, but not for hummus.

8.34 under my 400.00 budget for June, two adults, two teenagers, not including any takeaways (once a month if that) or school dinners (once a week, rest of time packed lunches). Also have a separate household budget for toilet rolls, washing up liquid etc. I am pleased with this result, goodness knows how much we were spending before meal planning, tracking food expenses.7

Morning all, I have been spending again
£1.36 on two rolls of foil and £5.92 at ald1 on olive spread, bananas, toilet roll, cleaning spray, light sugar and a packet of biscuits.I wanted to get a few other things but it was either bare shelves, price increases or the essentials range was not available for everything else. Not sure if it’s just my local ald1s as I did try a different one yesterday but they seem to have stopped the essential range in both of mine, meaning tesc0 is cheaper for most things.the comparison website I use is also shutting down now, I don’t have a great memory for prices so I was using it a lot before making purchases.
Total spent £139.115
