Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light and dry underfoot - forecast sun shine, cloudy and showers. We'll see!
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Lunch yesterday was roast chicken - just some mash and a little cooked chicken LO's. Tonight I'm not sure but have plenty to choose from, so will decide later.
Back to work today but just a 2 and half day week due to the Bank Holidays at the end of the week.
Keep safe and well x

Morning folks, thanks for starting us off nmlc. After the exertions and excesses of the last couple of days, yesterday was a day of rest. My two cousins and I were invited for brunch by a local couple. This turned into a real delight, we sat in the attic floor of the family home which they are renovating. It's a very large traditional house over three floors which is now split. Interestingly they have built a tower extension which houses a lift to each floor and the basement. The couple ( in their 60s) are doing all the work themselves, apart from electrics, which is so impressive.Once brunch was finished I went back to my guesthouse and fell asleep for most of the rest of the day.Today will be for some of the postponed sightseeing. Tomorrow we'll have to leave here for the long drive to Frankfurt. My thoughts are with our poorlies and those having a difficult time. Happy Monday to all.12

Morning everyone,
Bright and sunny start here. I'm in the London office today - joy!
Didn't manage to get on yesterday as we were putting up a garden room at DS1's house. Long hard day and totally pooped last night, so nice bath, face mask and early to bed.
Glad you're having a lovely time Gers. Enjoying the sightseeing trip today x
Good to see you bellabella and glad the Dubai trip was enjoyed. Have fun in Cuba x
Sorry to all those that I've missed - not intentional. Will read back later to catch up.

Morning all
Bright and sunny here but there is still a chill in the air, we had a lovely day yesterday we took the dogs out for a nice long walk and then went to the pub where there was a singer on, she was out on the patio and it was a lovely day so the pub was crowded, we treated ourselves to a meal out I had roast beef and OH had roast pork, it was very tasty and no washing up !
Off to work today but a short week due to the jubilee so not too bad just the three days to work, Dinner tonight will be something with chicken thighs, may do a honey and chilli sauce and have them with cous cous.
We cycled 16 miles on Saturday which we really enjoyed, we stopped for a picnic on the river bank and then cycled home it was most enjoyable.
Bella welcome back and not long till your next jaunt - how lovely ! xx
Have good days all xxx10 -
Good morning, thanks for the start NMLC.Sounds like you're having a great time Gers.Coxy, putting up a garden room sounds like hard work, hope it looked nice when done.Bella, you sound like a jet setter, Dubai one week, then Cuba!Izzy enjoy the 3 day week, you're always so busy. We're at the stage in our lives now where every day is a day off.YorksLass I know what you mean about being easily distracted from household jobs - I make various excuses to myself to justify not doing this or that. That'll be the reason why I now !have ironing waiting to be done.I'm starting to see room in the freezer as well TA, I need to tidy it a bit though. I took some beef mince out last night for a mince dinner tonight - it's cold here and we need to keep warm!Yesterday I went to the Metrocentre to change the trainers I'd bought on Saturday and when I walked to the bus stop it was freezing and the rain was lashing down - I had a warm coat on, and could have done with gloves. The forecast says it'll be warmer from midweek, hope they're right.Ds and Dil called in yesterday afternoon, I hadn't long been back. They were going to Dd's, it's her birthday today and they were going to deliver her present. We'll go and see her today with our present.Hope everyone has a good Monday, take care folks..10

Morning All
The sunshine has deserted us today, typical for a bank holiday! My garden is all tidy, cut the edges to the grass so it looks a lot better. There's been rain overnight but not enough for the new little plants at the allotment so will go and water them this morning.
DD and the little one are coming over later, DD wants to get some plants from the little nursery near me - small family run business with good quality and very reasonable plants. I may take the little one swimming this afternoon while DD does her shopping.
I didn't manage to get over to the neighbours to sort the veggie patch but did pull their rhubarb and made rhubarb and ginger jam, 9 jars safely squirrelled away!
Washing to do once I've been in the shower but it may have to stay inside on the pulley.
Sounds like you're having a great time Gers, enjoy the sightseeing.
Well done on the cycle Ruby.
Hugs to those in need.
Happy Monday! Take care. XX9 -
Morning everyone enjoy your sightseeing Gers we have got the same weather scarlet I don’t know when it’s ever going to warm up we have 3 grandchildren and a dog today I am at work at 12 hubby will look after them after that I will make them something to eat before I go and there’s cakes for them they are 5 8 and 10 so they can occupy themselves a bit hubby will take them to the park and they will watch a film I can’t say a lot about them as we have never been allowed to see them so they don’t really know us but we have been looking after them 1 day a week for the last 6 months because there mam has started work and she has nobody to look after them six months ago she walked into the house as if nothing had ever happened which it hadn’t she just decided when she got married that she only wanted her family and stopped speaking to everyone she is to say the least a very strange girl but her parents can’t cope with the kids because they are to much of a handful so they were stood there with a dog and 3 kids and said hi we have just come to see you I have had to take a job as we have no money can you look after these you couldn’t make it up so we are slowly getting to know them we are still not allowed at her house as she hasn’t got time for visitors as she is a very busy mummy her words plus her parents are there and they don’t know us you couldn’t make it up for want of a better word she’s a crackpot but we enjoy having them and the only bonus is it’s not just us it’s everyone never mind they will be here in a minute so must crack on thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Morning all; bit chilly here today.
This is my only free day of the week so will push on with a bit of housework in a while. Cakes all made yesterday and now in the freezer. Going to try a new to me recipe for a sausage and apple traybake for dinner so hope it's tasty. Our butcher changed hands and I'm sure the new people don't make such nice sausages so I've bought some good quality s/m ones.
Nothing much else going on here. Hope everyone else is ok.6 -
Afternoon everyone
Chilly here today - had to put a jumper on. It was raining when I went out earlier but has stopped now. Had to go into town to get my hands and feet Xrayed - was in and out in just a few minutes. Collected my prescription for HRT patches - so my first one is now stuck on - hopefully they will have a positive effect on me. I seem to have so many symptoms at the minute that the doctor doesn't know whether they're all down to long covid or if some of them may be caused by menopause. I just hope they make me feel a bit better.
DD dropped little one and I at our nearest beach yesterday afternoon and we had a lovely couple of hours. She wanted to collect stones to paint - she ended up with so many we would have needed a trailer! We took turns to choose our favourites and ended up with about 20. Also paddled and fished in the rockpools and built sandcastles - the water was freezing - there were some very brave people in the sea further along from us. Little one was very good and only went as far as I had told her - she had her rain suit on as it was warmish but not shorts and t shirt weather... but then it is the North East coast!
Gers - it sounds like you've really enjoyed your trip.
Bella - you too - enjoy the next one too!
My mam and dad were so pleased when I told them yesterday that eldest DD is coming home on Thursday for a few days. I hadn't said earlier cos my dad drives my mam mad watching for her days before she's due!
Right I've got dishes to wash up. Smoked fish for tea - I might do it in a parsley sauce, already have new potatoes cooked so nice and easy
Take care everyone x6 -
Afternoon all. We've got the usual dull skies, precious little sun, with rain (heavy showers) forecast and it's chilly. Let's hope June brings better weather.
As predicted, there were leftovers from yesterday's dinner - chicken that we've had in a salad wrap this lunchtime and I've made four bubble & squeak cakes from the mash and cabbage that will do on a breakfast plate with bacon and probably some beans or an egg. Tonight we're having a beef stir fry in black bean sauce with noodles.
I have a grocery order due tomorrow and wonder if I'll get everything I asked for. If not, it won't be a disaster but it can make meal planning a bit of a headache if you're relying on something in particular. For once, there's nothing for the freezer - it's mainly fresh stuff and a few store cupboard items. So, I'll have a little cash left over this month end - only about £3 or £4 - but it will still go into the winter squirrel fund. Once upon a time I would have just left it in my purse and spent it on ????
Don't mention ironing, Scarlet - I think it's one of the most boring jobs ever, so I've perfected the art of not ironing at all if I can help it.
There's only three things waiting in the basket at the moment and they're not urgent so can wait. By the time I get around to them they'll probably need washing again!
I hope your HRT patches help, dp1. I was lucky enough to not need them.
Izzy, I'm glad you're getting to know your grandchildren but it's a shame their mum doesn't want to be a bit more friendly.
Oooh, camelot - I love rhubarb & ginger jam. We've run out so I must put that on my To Do list.
Happy holidays to those who are away or about to go away - enjoy. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.5
