Missing NI contributions

Hi all, I’ve just checked my pension forecast out of interest and found that in 09/10 I have a missing year of NI. I claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance for 6 months while I was in the process of setting up my own business having been made redundant during the financial crisis.
How will this affect me going forwards?
I hope to retire between my 50th and 55th birthday so it doesn’t look like I’ll have payed enough NI to receive my full state pension.
For context I’m currently 35 and have NI records going back to when I started work at 16.
kind regards DH

What exactly does your pension forecast show ?You have at 15 years left before you intend stop working and 30+ until state retirement age so plenty of time to make up any shortfall.0

As molerat says, you've got plenty of time before you reach State Pension Age in which you can gain extra years, either by working or simpy buying them.Dh6 said:How will this affect me going forwards?
