tooth ache for 3 months

I have had toothache for 3 months I have been to dentist several times. He said slight shadow on roots and either extraction or root canel. I went for extraction but he has tried twice to remove but hurts each time So he said still infected.and numbing injections wont work  Had 3 lots of antibiotics for 7 days but appointment always at  least 7 days after I have finished course. They are very busy and cannot offer appointments nearer end date of course of antibiotics.  I am a bit fed up and waiting for Hospital to text me He said he doesnt know when this will be.  He is also going to remove another tooth shortly 8/6  But again will finish my course of antibiotics 7 days before.  I literally have to beg for appointment and there is always a long wait.  There is no other NHS dentist available and he is a new to me dentist.  Can you tell me do I need to start course of antibiotics 7 days before extraction. Dentist said no but whatever i am or dentist is doing dose nt seem to be working at moment

Sorry, but going private is the answer.

The recurrent nature of the infection means this is going to be tricky to extract. Are you meticulous with your oral hygiene routine? Regular flossing and rinsing after each meal can make a huge difference.

also i have an underactive thyroid which means i should not use fluoride and am likely to have inflammation of gums and my body is unable to heal infections quickly unfortunately Apparently i need to swish my mouth with coconut oil YUCK

Have you actually been advised by a Dr not to use fluoride toothpaste? It's generally believed the amounts you would actually ingest from brushing your teeth would be negligible. So if it's just something you've read on Google - I would stop doing it, or at least ask the advice of the person looking after that side of your care.

The coconut oil thing sounds to me suspiciously like 'Oil Pulling' - this is complete bunkum, and if that's what you're doing, then I'd suggest you stopped.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Two things , although high fluoride can cause thyroid problems this is fluoride that is naturally in water sources in such places as US , Canada or Africa  , which can be in very high concentrations , far more than in fluoride toothpaste combined with water in the U.K.

There is absolutely no scientific basis for not using fluoride toothpaste with thyroid disorders eg https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5754860/

second , and being blunt , oil pulling is quackery. Use of tepe brushes or other interdental aids has quickly discernible results . Oil pulling ... no. https://www.nature.com/articles/sj.bdj.2018.281

@brook2jack @Toothsmith Thanks just come back from dentist and confirmed what you are saying and for me to stop googling and just follow his advise as hes been to medical school for 5 years.  I will go back to flossing and cleaning teeth with tooth paste.  He has given me some more antibiotics, different sort, and I have just got to wait for hospital and go back and see him if pain increases I can also pick up meds if needed.
