Underwriter offer withdrawn
I'm living with lots of hope,
Thanks for the ad
Could anyone help me please?
I'm UK based just had a mortgage offer accepted with Coventry building society last week and my solicitor has disclosed a previous japenese knotweed issue
Basically the builder bought the site in 2019 to build 4 houses
It had 50% knotweed
Site was excavated and disposed in secure landfill site by a UK leading knotweed control company.
Coventry gave now withdrawn there offer.
It's now been escalated back to underwriters
Any idea how this will pan out as I think I've most my dream home 😭😭😭😭
Any advice greatly appreciated

I would try not to worry too much about losing the property. It is Japanese knotweed, this issue was always going to crop up and it will do for any other buyer (unless a cash buyer).
Let it play out as they are unlikely to want to find another buyer as it will just reset the whole process for them.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Coventry say...
Properties affected by Japanese knotweed, RICS categories 1 and 2, are acceptable subject to a satisfactory valuation report.
Category 1 – Japanese knotweed was not seen on the property, but it could be seen on a neighbouring property or land where it was more than seven metres away from the boundary.
Category 2 – Japanese knotweed was not seen on this property, but it was seen on a neighbouring property or land within seven metres of the boundary but more than seven metres away from habitable spaces, a conservatory and/or a garage.
Properties affected by Japanese knotweed that do not meet the above criteria are unacceptable
As ACG says... you may have dodged a bullet here
